England sealed the Youth ODI series by taking a 3-0 lead with two to play on the back of 17-year-old Haseeb Hameed’s hundred. Hameed had made 97 in each of the first two matches but finally reached three figures, his 125 providing the main plank in a 39-win at Trent Bridge.South Africa were dismissed for 256 in the 48th over, having lost wickets throughout the innings. Janneman Malan hit a rapid half-century, his third in as many matches, and Marques Ackerman made 67 before becoming Kyle Carver’s third wicket. Kevin Dudgeon smacked three sixes towards the end but South Africa again fell short.England’s innings was built around another strong showing from the top three, with Tom Alsop making 57 during a stand of 144 with Hameed. The middle order was not so productive, with four players making single-figure scores as Aidan Brooker and Sibonelo Makhanya picked up three wickets apiece.England looked certain to make 300 for the second match in succession but Hameed’s dismissal saw them lose 5 for 21. However, a 52-run stand from the last 36 balls between Rob Jones and Brad Taylor took them to an unassailable position.
