European giants, France and Netherlands played out a boring goalless draw on Friday in their second group game of Euro 2024. The only talking point from the dull game was a controversially disallowed goal of Xavi Simons around the 70th-minute mark, which according to manager Koeman should have been allowed.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the former Barcelona coach said, "I think the position of Dumfries is offside but he isn't disturbing the goalkeeper. When that happens it is a legal goal in my opinion. Also, you need five minutes to check it? I don't understand this."

Liverpool star and Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk also backed his coach's claim as he felt Simons' goal was a fair one. Speaking to Euro 2024's official media channel, he said, "We scored a goal that is a fair goal. He had no chance to get into that corner. But yeah, the English referee decided not to give it."

Premier League referees Anthony Taylor and Stuart Attwell, who ruled out the strike, were savagely trolled on social media for their controversial decision which did not go down well with fans online.
